Viking Helvetia
Ship Description
Built in 2006, the Viking Helvetia, a twin to the Viking Sun, is one of the newer river ships
in the Viking fleet. High ceilings give the 198 guests a feeling of spaciousness while the French balconies and opening windows in the upper cabins give great viewing experiences. The observation lounge and restaurant are located at the front of the ship and have large picture windows. There are 5 categories of cabins on the 3 decks ranging from 155 SF for the largest to 120 SF for the lowest category. Bedding is from hotel style double beds to a pullman bed and sofa bed in the lower categories
With its all-inclusive cruise program that includes both airfare and shore
excursions, a river cruise on the Viking Helvetia not only provides a comprehensive
cultural and historical experience but is also an exceptionally good value.
Most members of the ship's crew are from central and eastern Europe. English
is the official onboard language, and all crew speak fluent English as do
tour guides escorting shore excursions, and all public address announcements
are made only in English. The cruise manager is the main contact person
onboard the ship and is on hand to respond to individual passenger questions
and requests throughout the cruise, and also organizes shore excursions
and introduces guest speakers.
For the 75 cabins on the Viking Helvetia the location on the ship determines the price. Viking Helvetia was specifically built to accommodate discerning American travelers. During your leisure time, indulge on the sun deck with breathtaking 360-degree views or the observation lounge where you can relax over cocktails.
You will need an electric adapter to plug in a curling iron, electric razor, or camera battery re-charger. The room comes with a hair dryer. There is a television with movies, news, and a live "cruise cam" that allows you to see out the front of the ship.
