Viking Lomonosov
Ship Description
Built in 1979 and totally renovated in 2006, the Viking Lomonosov is one of
four river ships in the Viking fleet travelling the russian river system.
The Viking Kirov, Viking Lavrinenkov, Viking Pakhomov and Viking Surkov
being the other three. With its all-inclusive cruise program that includes
both airfare and shore excursions, a river cruise on the Viking Lomonosov
not only provides a comprehensive cultural and historical experience but
is also an exceptionally good value. Explore the natural highways of Russia
with a trip down the imperial rivers and lakes of Russia. The development
of numerous man-made canals now makes it possible to travel great distances
from the remote forests of Kareliya and Red Square in Moscow, to historic
St. Petersburg. On your journey through historic Russia, you’ll see
the grand monuments and opulent palaces of the Czars. And you’ll have
time to browse the extraordinary collection of art in the Hermitage Museum,
and enjoy world-class theatrical performances in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
As you travel through the breathtaking countryside, you’ll see fortified
monasteries, beautiful cathedrals and quaint villages—all
from the comfort of your Viking River Cruises ship. Most members of the ship's
crew are from central and eastern Europe. English is the official onboard language,
and all crew speak fluent English as do tour guides escorting shore excursions,
and all public address announcements are made only in English. The cruise manager
is the main contact person onboard the ship and is on hand to respond to individual
passenger questions and requests throughout the cruise, and also organizes shore
excursions and introduces guest speakers.
