Viking Seine
Ship Description
Built in 2000, the Viking Seine offers a French river cruise as a stylish holiday option of Normandy or the Provence. Guests are welcomed aboard in a small but elegant entrance foyer with a pale wood reception desk. To the right of the reception desk is a small but very pretty, library with large windows offering board games and a good selection of books in English as well as other European languages. To the left is a small shop area, stocked with t-shirts and polo shirts, scarves and hats. Beyond the shop is the boat's lounge with large windows to the front and sides. There is a small parquet dance floor in front of an even smaller bandstand. The lounge is surrounded by a narrow outside promenade with highly varnished wooden seating, so on sunny days guests can enjoy a drink with a view outside. An outside staircase leads up from Main Deck to the Sundeck at the top of the vessel, a roomy outdoor facility with plenty of comfortable seating and lounges.
Staterooms come in three categories; the 120 sf E grade standard rooms with a small window, one fixed single bed and a pull-down berth. C and D grades are almost identical to E's but have larger windows, while A and B deluxe cabins, slightly more spacious at 151 sf, have large windows and two sofas that transform into single beds at night. All cabins come equipped with hair dryer, safe, TV, radio, and small ensuite shower room with washbasin and WC. The cabins have very efficient air conditioning and wardrobe and drawer space is ample.
Most members of the ship's crew are french or from central and eastern Europe. English
is the official onboard language, and all crew speak fluent English as do
tour guides escorting shore excursions, and all public address announcements
are made only in English. The cruise manager is the main contact person
onboard the ship and is on hand to respond to individual passenger questions
and requests throughout the cruise, and also organizes shore excursions
and introduces guest speakers.
A river cruise with Viking River Cruises is the best way to see the real Europe up close and in depth. Explore the best of Europe from an intimate perspective, spending your time being there, not getting there. Come aboard with Viking River Cruises and explorer France in comfort!
